Summary:
Arguably the greatest horror novel ever written by the greatest horror novelist, this is a true Modern Classic that was first published in 1978, and then re-published in 1990, complete and unabridged, with 150,000 words cut from the first edition restored, and now accompanied by unusual and imaginative line art. The total copies for both editions, in hardcover and paperback, exceeds 4 million worldwide.

The Stand is a truly terrifying reading experience, and became a four-part mini-series that memorably brought to life the cast of characters and layers of story from the novel. It is an apocalyptic vision of the world, when a deadly virus runs amok around the globe. But that lethal virus is almost benign compared to the satanic force gathering minions from those still alive to destroy humanity and create a world populated by evil.

Stephen King is a brilliant storyteller who has the uncanny gift of putting ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, giving readers an experience that chills and thrills on every page.

King's Epic...can also be used as booster for small children...

No wonder there's a saying..."as scarce as clean paper in Stephen King's house." I know it's daunting, but worth every word. This timeless plot of good vs. evil rides again gallantly as King puts the characters through their paces. I read the edited version and then the uncut...well worth the extra pounds. (I tease) Again a King classic and, in my humble opinion, a classic on it's own merit.

Stephen King's Greatest Novel

Dear God this is the perfect apocalyptic novel ever! There is everything in this book really: antichrist, disease, violence, and Stephen King takes the time to give background to all of the characters in this novel! Yeah it was long. It took me five months to finish it, but it is worth the time!

i just recently reread this book and i am just as "in awe" today as i was 20 yrs ago. the story of good vs evil is a "grab you" and take you for a non stop nail biting ride. i really like the uncut version as you get the little back storys that you did not get 1st time around. i loved mother abigail(the messiah figure)i like that she was all to human ,i liked stu's quiet strength, randall flagg's supreme evil, larry's uncertanity,i have always liked stephan king's books, but for me this is his best effort.
