This book is indeed an officially licensed book endorsed, fully reviewed, and edited by the Boy Scouts of America. It is part of a Boy Scouts of America trademarked book series called "Be Prepared". Other titles include Be Prepared First Aid and Be Prepared Fishing. Soon to be released is Be Prepared Camping.
Mis-represented - Not a BSA publication

This is a nicely laid-out beginner's booklet on hiking and backpacking, but beware: it is not an official BSA publication and is not endorsed by the BSA. The BSA logo on the back cover and the disclaimer on the title leaf are printed under license and these are the only BSA involvement with this book.
As stated, it's a nice little booklet for beginners.
A wonderful new Scouting or Pathfindering Resource Book

This is a wonderful new resource book on camping, written by one of our best camping authors today. It should be a must for every, Scoutmaster, Boy Scout and every troop. Meeting Boy Scouts or Pathfinders on the trail is an experience. If they are good, they are very good, but if they are bad they are the very worst you want to camp near! This book should be a wonderful help for leaders who try and for Boy Scouts or Pathfinders alike.
