Giddy-Up, another smoking hot read from Lorelei James's Roughrider series. This is book 4 and as usual theres all kinds of hot and sexy lovemakin goin on. Its also been tied together again with an awesome story; encompassing ranch life, love, heartache, the occasional dust up and of course family. You know real life kinda stuff. I'm finding this series seriously addictive and almost impossible to put down. It seems I've fallen hard for those wild, sexy, and charming MacKay boys, even if most of the time I can't keep their names straight. Now all I need is a blue-eyed/black haired cowboy of my very own to play with. I've also got to stop talking like I'm from Wyoming Y'all because I live in Canada and my family thinks I've lost it.
We first met Kade and Skylar in (Cowgirl Up And Ride) where they had several dates and an unprotected romp in the back of a pick-up before goin their separate ways. 12 months later cattle rancher Kade McKay returns to town only to learn that he's a daddy. Thing is though he wants to be a dad. Never mind stepping up to the plate Kade runs, embracing his new daddy status with pure delight. Given half a chance he'd also like to be a husband but independent business woman Skylar Ellison has some trust issues and won't give an inch despite his constant marriage proposals. She's also pretty sure he's just asking because of the baby.
Within days Kade and Skylar move in together, under the pretence that they'll live platonically, just sharing in the parenting duties. (Yeah right) Anyways, Kade agrees to play by her rules long enough for Skylar to see that he's in this for the long haul. (He might love her a bit too) Since this is a Roughriders book the arrangement lasts like one chapter before desire takes over. At first their sex life is perfunctory however once Kade convinces Skylar that sex really is better with the lights on and not in the missionary position (or even indoors for that matter) things evolve to a whole new level of passion. Kade ultimately takes complete control in the bedroom; instilling the "Nekkid rule" and making quick use of some ropes, leaving Skylar in an unfamiliar `sub' position but very satisfied. However nothing worth having ever comes easy. And just because Skylar's given her body to Kade doesn't mean she's going to hand him the reins to her heart too. Just how much one sided lovin will this cowboy take before he finally hit's the dusty trail?
Kade is just lovely as our cowboy daddy, he's sweet, honest and hardworking (and he likes a girl with curves) in all honesty Skylar doesn't deserve him. Of course theres a whole lot of other stuff going on here too and fans of the series won't be disappointed. Cheers

Skylar Ellison is a business woman who found herself pregnant after breaking up with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend, Kade McKay, did not know that Skylar was pregnant. Being depressed that she had broken up with him, he had left to take on a new ranch in a remote area where it was difficult for Skylar to reach him.
Upon returning from his one year ranching escapade, Kade discovered that he had a three month old baby daughter. Whey Skylar still refused his requests to get back together, he finally convinced her to allow him to move in with her and let him at least be a father to his own child.
The story continues as Skylar begins to fall in love with Kade as she sees that he is a good father and a wonderful man. She is worried that he is only there for the child and not for her. The truth is, Kade has loved Skylar for a long time and has been trying to win her over the entire time.
Aside from being a really hot and heavy romance with some really steamy sex scenes, there is a great story line behind this book where it deals with people overcoming abuse and low self-asteem and learning to rise to the top.
For once, the hero isn't perfect in every way but he's the type of hereo that every woman would want.
Not up to usual standards

I am surprissed this book got so many rave reviews. I found it to be boring and the sex scenes felt like they were bad fanfiction. I have read other stories in this series and other stories by lorelei so I knew what I was getting into. I felt like this was a story she wrote in high school that was never meant to seen. Sadly disappointed and will be getting a refund, but I'm still a fan of her writing in general :)
My favorite McKay!

While all the Rough Rider's books are fabulous, this story is by far (so far) my favorite. I absolutely, love, love, LOVE Kade McKay. He is someone truly with his head on his shoulders! Let's face it, the other McKay men are pretty darn stupid when it comes to wooing and loving their women. Kade knew he messed up with Skylar and he did all he could to make it right. From the moment he fainted when seeing his beautiful baby daughter for the first time, to the time he went balls out to go after the man threatening one of Skylar's employee's Kade McKay is the total package. I loved how Skylar tired to no avail to hold him at arm's length. Their story is one rocky road, but in the end it was smooth sailing for them. I really liked how MS James portrayed parenting--and the fact no matter how hard you try you sometimes don't get it right. I loved the grocery store scene--no you cannot hold a baby in your arms while you're shopping.
It's always enjoyable to see some of the previous characters in the Rough Rider's series and they were plentiful in Kade and Skylar's story. As I said I've enjoyed all of the Rough Rider's but this story to me just hit all the right spots. The romance was both fierce and tender--just what I'd expect from Lorelei James.

This is the story of Skylar and Kade. Skylar is a business woman who starts dating a sexy cowboy. After having a date - they end up doing the wild thing in his pick up, after dinner, in the parking lot (it could happen). Skyar gets mad at Kade because she found out he was pretending to be his twin (still could happen). So Kade, broken hearted, leaves to work on a family ranch far away to get over Skylar. In the mean time Skylar finds out she is pregnant and decides to have the baby. After a year he returns home to find out that he is a daddy. And so the story starts....
I liked this book but for a different reasons than I thought I would. It was a sexy book but it wasn't as sexy as I thought it was going to be. I did like the romance in it and Kade was a hero in every way possible. Kade is the kind of man every woman prays to end up with and especially to have a child with!!!
