Summaries and Customer Reviews provided by Amazon

Summary

Neighbors were unaware of what went on behind the tightly closed doors of a house in Fresno, California—the home of an imposing, 300-pound Marcus Wesson, his wife, children, nieces, and grandchildren. But on March 12, 2004, gunshots were heard inside the Wesson home, and police officers responding to what they believed was a routine domestic disturbance were horrified by the senseless carnage they discovered when they entered.

By Their Father's Hand is a chilling true story of incest, abuse, madness, and murder, and one family's terrible and ultimately fatal ordeal at the hands of a powerful, manipulative man—a cultist who envisioned vengeful gods and vampires, and totally controlled those closest to him before their world came to a brutal and bloody halt.

Good Testimony

Rating: Score = 4 Score = 4 Score = 4 Score = 4 Score = 4

The book was written well with all the facts bared and made available to reader. The story itself is horrendous to read, so can only imagine what the poor family must have gone through.

The part where the kids and daughters were killed is still touching and I cannot forget reading it.

How can animals as such exist???

well written but truth was to disturbing

Rating: Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3

well written but what a disturbing story! took several days to read because you can't stay in that dark sick world to long, had to take breaks back into normal life! what control he had over all his family(victims all). Shows that there are some really sick people out there!

Book I ordered

The Poster for "Dysfunctional Families"

Rating: Score = 4 Score = 4 Score = 4 Score = 4 Score = 4

I had heard very little about this case so wanted to know more. It was a good read, albeit a disturbing one at that. Thought the writer did a good job detailing the story along with the background of the family and that of Mr. Wesson.

A disgusting story, told with impartiality

Rating: Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3

This is not necessarily the best written true-crime of the year, but the author does have an ability to turn an utterly disgusting subject and story into something readable. Too much detail or gross-out emotion would have made this story impossible to read. Basically, it reads like a long news article, and I think that's just right for this subject. It's a hard story to read, not because of the author, but because of the horrifying story. In the end, three stars more because it's captures information mostly reported previously, but the author handles it well.
