Great price, not loving the writing style

The price for this set was great. I'm a big True Blood fan and knew the books are not exactly like the series however I'm just finding the writing a little bland.
HBO Series so much better

I'm on the 7th book and can't seem to finish it. I almost stopped earlier with the second book, but since Season 2 of True Blood hadn't come out yet, I persevered. Now Season 2 is out and I'm almost through watching it. I'm so much more riveted with this HBO series of True Blood, which does deviate from the books a lot, than the books themselves.I found the books rather ho-hum, but the visuals and story line in the HBO series are great! A mild version of Quentin Tarantino. Acting is laughable at times, but I think that's all part of it. To me, the books just aren't worth reading.

I am absolutely obsessed with the HBO series TrueBlood which is based on these books. The books are even better and such a good deal for the set! I want to read them over and over again!

Okay, I love this series, and that was totally unexpected for me. I am not usually into romance horror, so I did not expect this series to be so completely engrossing and captivating as it has been. Not only myself, but even my hubby voraciously read through the Sookie series and became very endeared to the characters as well. The comedy, horror, mystery, and romance is perfectly blended together in the stories. The characters are well rounded and likable, the plots are often page turners. Its just a fun read, nothing too deep, but oh so enjoyable! It far exceeds Twilight in my opinion, since this series centers around grown ups behaving in more grown up ways which as an adult I can relate to much more than a prudish pubescent vampire love story. Whether you dig romance or lighter horror you should totally give this series a try, its like pringles- once you pop you won't be able to stop and will end up like me eagerly awaiting and gobbling up each new book as it comes out, LOL. In my opinion this box set contains the best books from this series, however. As it goes on it seems to be going downhill a bit, and some of the plot elements seem a bit too unrealistic for me to be able to enjoy without questioning. But books 1-7 are fab, so give it a try!!!
