This Book Makes a Great Gift
I loved this book. I have given several copies as gifts and the recipients have all been very pleased. I'm planning to give the children's version to my grandkids the next time they visit.
Nice little book
A must read for cat lovers. This was a nice easy read. I have to agree with alot of the reviews that vicki should have included more stories of Dewey. But i disagree with cutting back the rest of the story of Spencer and Vicki's personal challenges. You can't tell the story of Dewey's impact without telling these stories too.
I made the mistake of finishing the last chapters of the book while on a flight heading out of town. I had to wait a couple of mins before exiting the plane to get the tears from my eyes. Right then I wanted to turn right back around and give my little kitties a hug. They got plenty when i made it home though.
Must Read
I loved this book. I am an avid animal lover....all and any. I have had cats and dogs in my life, but now my husband is allergic to fur! What to do? I read about animals and I paint them. Not quite as satisfying as the real thing, but I'll tell you what....Dewey was one of the best books of its type I have read. His story, and the story of Vicki's life are deliciously interwoven and I'd be surprised if you didn't fall in love with Dewey as much as I did - as much as everyone has. My only regret is that I never knew about him until just now (11/09). I would have gone out to meet him from the eastcoast in a heartbeat. I highly recommend this wonderful, book for anyone who loves animals, or for those who want to get out of their head and open their heart - or both!
Just okay
I was looking for an easy read and I love cats so I picked this up. The book is just so-so. The grammar used actually makes the book difficult to read and understand but can be overlooked. Like some of the other reviewers I found that Dewey was not as much the main part of the story as I thought.
Heartwarming
What a great story. Who wouldn't be interested in this book? If you're a cat lover, you'll love the book. If you're a small-town person, you'll love the book. If you're looking for a good story, this book is for you. Dewey is about how a cat put smiles and more in the lives of people in Spencer, Iowa. A cat that became popular and touched the lives of everyone.
