Summary

There are plenty of books about coping with adversity. But isn't until now, with WHO SURVIVES, that we discover the human factors that determine survival. It's a combination instruction book and security blanket that blends compelling true stories with cutting-edge science to deliver some of the most important lessons we'll ever need to learn.

The book will:
--list the most important traits necessary for survival (e.g., adaptability, tenacity, faith)
--identify the 5 types of survivors
--debunk myths (like only the strong survive), explore the frontiers of survival science (How much strain and punishment can a human body endure?), and introduce readers to counterintuitive thinking (Ever heard of posttraumatic growth?)
--provide a Survivors Tool Kit, including an online test that measures one's Survivor's Quotient

Each one of us eventually joins the club of millions who face life's inescapable tribulations and tragedies. WHO SURVIVES is the companion we need to prepare us for and guide us through the worst.

Survivors Club affirms ability to survive

In reading this book, the main thing I found was a growing confidence that the human body and spirit can survive much more than once thought. The stories and research were interesting. The Survivors Club was not totally a scientific book but a mixture of body, mind and spirit stories that illustrate how individuals in a critical situation were able to call upon their past experiences or training to help them survive. Faith was also a big plus for most people in the stories. The website and survey were also good tools for the reader to rate their survival resources. I would recommend the book.

Loved it! Very informative.

Great book! Fast read, very entertaining and enlightening. I bought the book for my sister who also loved it and subsequently bought it for another friend. I also really enjoyed taking the "test" and the follow up videos on the website. Highly Recommended!

Great book with many new ways of seeing things you deal with everyday. You'll want to take the test to find your type of survivor as well as your strengths. A great buy!

What a fascinating book!

I really enjoyed it! It was full of emotional stories and inspirational examples of the perseverance of humanity without being a sappy _Chicken Soup for the Soul_ type of book. It was very informative, as well. And while it sounds like it could be a bit depressing, it was remarkably hopeful. Sherwood is a talented writer (I loved both of his novels) and this transition to nonfiction was smooth. The online quiz added a fun dynamic to reading the book that I certainly didn't expect, but that I quite enjoyed. My only complaint was that you were limited to sending the quiz to only one other person to take - I certainly wanted to share this quiz with more than just one person! And where will they put the unique code once this book is in paperback?

So I spend hours reading this book, waiting for the end to take this test they keep talking about. Except, since I got the book from the library, the "special code" needed to take the online test won't work, as it is single-use only. Their website says that they are "working on" a solution for library readers, but they're evidently too dumb to think of it.
