Summaries and Customer Reviews provided by Amazon
SummaryJust as you have a different love language, you also hear and express the words and gestures of apology in a different language. New York Times best-selling author Gary Chapman has teamed with counselor Jennnifer Thomas on this groundbreaking study of the way we apologize, discovering that it's not just a matter of will--it's a matter of how. By helping people identify the languages of apology, this book clears the way toward healing and sustaining vital relationships. The authors detail proven techniques for giving and receiving effective apologies. |

Average Rating:
It missed the mark... just another 5 Love Language Books
The back of the book makes it sound like a good book... but after inspection inside, it really missed the mark.
While people may be looking for one type of Apology, we should not direct our Apology to that type, but we should be using ALL 5! A true apology should require and entail ALL 5 of them!
That is why this book missed the mark... it based it upon the 5 Love Language which says to hit their language of the person you are trying to love...
But to do so with Apology, we are really trying to get off the hook from being truely repentful which would require ALL of the steps, not just one of them!
very good
Its a book that teaches you the high importance of apology. How it helps maintain relationships, and how to apologize to each person, and let them know its sincere. Because sometime you are, but the other part doesn't believe you. This book explains why and how to make it right.
Bad part is, that after it ends explaining that (which is at about half of the book), the rest is pure b.l..... blah, blah, blah..... That's why no fifth star.
But just read the first half, and its more than worth it.
worthwhile book!
This is a book well worth your time to read. If you have problems knowing how to apologize to someone, this will give you ideas. Just like the Love Languages book by the same authors, you learn how to interact with someone so they can receive in a way that meets their needs. Often we give out to others in ways that would meet our needs but the person on the receiving end comes up feeling empty and we wonder why. If something given, even an apology, is to be received well, it must be "packaged" in such a way that it appeals to the recipient. This book will explain how to package your apology. In doing this, we learn to keep our relationships free from resentment and anger over unresolved conflict.
Basic Education
There is so much emphasis on testing in the schools that we've gotten away from covering some of the basics. One of those basics is how to apologize in a way that brings relief from hurt, and promotes reconciliation. If more children learned the art of modulating an apology, I believe there would ultimately be less discord in the classroom, less family strife, and less divorce. This book is a simple read, easily digestible, and possess some truly life-changing paradigms. It would make an invaluable wedding, graduation, etc. gift.
Five Languages of Apology
Excellent!! Short and simple - just like the Love Languages book. I am a psychotherapist and use both in my private practice! I use the philosophy as well as recommending both books!! Feedback from patients has all been positive.
