It is the book the author wishes had been available when he was diagnosed 6 years ago. It is intended to provide specific information for men who are at risk or have been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. All major treatment options are examined and the pros and cons of each are summarized. A relatively new, non-invasive, highly effective treatment is highlighted. It is an option that cures cancer as well as any other option, but generally leaves the patient with a higher quality of life and fewer, if any, side effects. This book has been endorsed by several physicians as well as other highly respected people from all walks of life. |

If you have been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, then this is a "must read" book for you. Bob breaks down all the modalities available today and explains each one plus many references to where youl can go to get more advice. It was a big help to me in sorting out all the possibilities and conflicts associated with Prostate Cancer and reaching a decision I am confident will make me whole again.

When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, I bought this book. Probably the best purchase I ever made. Bob Marckini covers treatment options, with special attention to proton therapy. After reading this book, I opted for proton therapy. Best choice I could have made. Successful treatment, and no side effects. Thanks Bob Marckini!
A Must Read Book for ALL Men.

Most men will at some point in their lives be concerned about prostate problems. Most urologists are quick to recommend surgery if prostate cancer is detected from a biopsy. It is well worth being educated and informed before making a decision that would likely reduce quality of life, and perhaps not be any more effective in treatment than what is discussed in this book. Mr. Marckini discusses his search for an effective treatment for his particular stage of prostate cancer, with minimal side effects. He discusses the pros and cons of all the conventional treatments and his reasons for deciding on proton treatment. He also goes into great detail on his experience at Loma Linda University Medical Center, as well as general information on the prostate, PSA readings, and getting a biopsy.
This book is well written and extremely informative.
It is essential to get all available information on treatment options before submitting to the knife, seeds, regular radiation, or drugs. There are only a few facilities in the country so far that offer this treatment, so most doctors in locations that don't offer this treatment are not willing to mention it. Do your own research and be armed with as much information as you can get. This book will go a long way to educate men as they enter middle age with rising PSA levels.

I am so glad I found this book!! This book takes you step by step from your first indications of prostate problems, through diagnosis and then treatment options. Bob's book is an easy read, well documented, and provides you with a thorough understanding of what your are facing. Bob had a lot of personal experience with this disease after losing his father to it, and then watching his brother go through the surgical process of removing his prostate. After his own diagnosis, he did a tremendous amount of research in an effort to fully understand his options and the consequences of each type of treatment. Personally, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in May, '09 and just completed Proton treatment at M D Anderson in July. My admiration for the staff and treatment I received could fill it's own book. I, like most of you, was overwhelmed not only with the diagnosis, but by the available treatment options. Please understand, there are many ways to successfully treat your prostate cancer. The decision is yours and yours alone. Bob's book gives you the necessary tools to make an informed decision.

It will give you hope as well as point you in the right direction. Although somewhat biased , it gives you all the pros and cons of each alternative.
