Overpriced at Amazon....available elsewhere for much less!
I thought I was getting a hard copy of the book and was willing to pay the price at Amazon ($16.50) for it. When it came, it was a paperback! I had already seen the paperback at The Christmas Tree Shop in Cherry Hill, NJ, for $3.99!! I should have bought the cookbook there!! It would have been easier and much cheaper! Had it been the other way around, it would have much easier to return as well!
Pretty Good
This is a pretty good book for party recipes. However, I was disappointed that there weren't as many as I thought there would be; and some look almost repeated from earlier books in series, or else reproduced in later books. I don't know if they were or not. But they seem to be.
SB 1
I have not used this book alot , but have gotten a couple of recipes that are very good. Book in excellent condition
The Best Party Planner!
This book is GREAT for planning a get-together! It lays out a complete menu for different occasions. It also breaks the preparation down into a time line, from days to months prior, so you don't have to worry about rushing to do it all the day of.
mediocre in comparison to the original south beach diet cookbook
The original south beach diet cookbook- the one with the orange cover, was so great, i cooked and ate to my little heart's content and never felt deprived for a moment. The Holidays and parties cookbook, however, is really lacking. Most of the stuff in there like whole wheat pasta in marinara, chicken with artichokes, lean hot dogs with mustard is so basic and obvious, there is no need for a recipe. Not bad stuff, but i know enough about nutrition and basic ingredients to throw these things together myself.
Granted some of the desserts are noteworthy, but any cookbook written after 1975 that has a recipe including " canned fish, gelatin, and decorative mold" will not get too much respect in my kitchen.
