SummaryOne year ago, Sarah Palin burst onto the national political stage like a comet. Yet even now, few Americans know who this remarkable woman really is. On September 3, 2008 Alaska Governor and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin delivered a speech at the Republican National Convention that electrified the nation and instantly made her one of the most recognizable women in the world. As chief executive of America's largest state, she had built a record as a reformer who cast aside politics-as-usual and pushed through changes other politicians only talked about: Energy independence. Ethics reform. And the biggest private sector infrastructure project in U.S. history. And while revitalizing public school funding and ensuring the state met its responsibilities to seniors and Alaska Native populations, Palin also beat the political "good ol' boys club" at their own game and brought Big Oil to heel. Like her GOP running mate, John McCain, Palin wasn't a packaged and over-produced candidate. She was a Main Street American woman: a working mom, wife of a blue collar union man, and mother of five children, the eldest of whom was serving his country in a yearlong deployment in Iraq and the youngest, an infant with special needs. Palin's hometown story touched a populist nerve, rallying hundreds of thousands of ordinary Americans to the GOP ticket. But as the campaign unfolded, Palin became a lightning rod for both praise and criticism. Supporters called her "refreshing" and "honest," a kitchen-table public servant they felt would fight for their interests. Opponents derided her as a wide-eyed Pollyanna unprepared for national leadership. But none of them knew the real Sarah Palin. In this eagerly anticipated memoir, Palin paints an intimate portrait of growing up in the wilds of Alaska; meeting her lifelong love; her decision to enter politics; the importance of faith and family; and the unique joys and trials of life as a high-profile working mother. She also opens up for the first time about the 2008 presidential race, providing a rare, mom's-eye view of high-stakes national politics—from patriots dedicated to "Country First" to slick politicos bent on winning at any cost. Going Rogue traces one ordinary citizen's extraordinary journey and imparts Palin's vision of a way forward for America and her unfailing hope in the greatest nation on earth. |

sarah palin: an american hero (mavrick)
although i dont have the book yet i've heard quite a few things about it such as how the mccain campaign kept her quiet on alot of things and that she couldnt speak her true self. which this is deemed true with the "free sarah palin campaign" that people were apart of
but if this book is controversal, then go read dreams of my father by mr. obama. because there are some pretty hair-raising things in that book and he's president. so before you fact check sarah palin's book. go fact check obamas book because thats way more important than sarah palin. granted, she's not president. people are all out there fact checking her book all of the sudden. why? what do people give a crap about it? they want to discredit her and get her to be quiet. why? because they dont like her. i think this crap needs to have an end. no wonder why she has so many grudges, because she's the most picked on person probably in history. when it should not have even started. who started picking on her first ? it was the media, then everyone else was on board with it. if the media never started this, a vast majority of people probably would not have started this either.
she's extremely popular and we want her. so all pundits be quiet !
the pundits of obama want us to be quiet as well and they are attacking everyone who disagrees with obama, so in the name of equality, be quiet ! AT least she really is a great american patriot with the plan to fix the economy. and obama absolutely does not !
A snore
This book reads as if it were written by Tracy Flick(Reese Witherspoon's charcter in Election) as told to Prof Irwin Corey. More tedious then plowing through the collected works of M Proust and proof that purity of ideology is all that matters to some on the right.
The "TRUE" One!!
This book was amazing! Were seeing a great return, hopefuly, of good old American commonsense values! Get em' Sarah!
Terrible.. four steps back for women everywhere
I'm a pretty level headed invididual, and when it comes to being biased, I would say I'm not. Now, onto the book. This book was terrible! I don't know how it can even be considered a book.. other than the fact that there are words on pages put together with a cover and title.
Sarah Palin shows who exactly she is in this book. I purchased it to find out if what I was hearing was true or not; from the left and right.
After reading her own words I am disappointed to say that the left is correct for the most part. In fact, I'm ashamed to say that she is even the same gender as I. If she had her way women would be there to make dinner for and have sex with men. That is all. And her views on abortion. wow. While I would never have an abortion I would never force someone else to take my views. Sarah.. would shove it down your throat.
I'm glad I read this so I can see that Sarah Palin is a terrible person who I hope no one ever looks up to.. expecially women of this and future generations.
I will be giving this book to goodwill.
You See? You see? You're making me make millions (those darn easterners!)
I read Sarah Palin and it amazes me how she can just lump one-half or more of the country and be extremely critical of it. After all, its the "bad easterners" that promoted, published her book; its the bad easterners like MSNBC, CBS, ABS and other stations that are spending hours and hours and hours on her book; and its the bad easterners who are buying the alaskan salmon and other products. If Sarah Palin hates the easterners so much and has so much anger towards us, I will take my dollars and spend them on other states and boycott all of alaskan products--and vote with someone who is not becoming a zillionaire spewing hatred for one section of the country.
